“Though the vicious can sometimes pour affliction upon the good,

their power is transient and their punishment certain;

and that innocence,

though oppressed by injustice,

supported by patience,

finally triumph over misfortune!”

(From The Mysteries of Udolpho, 1794)

“I was never a victim of the times I lived in.  In fact, I was a success because of the times I lived in.  My style of personality became the style.   I was sort of the New Woman at a very early point.”  – Katherine Hepburn

Well, when you look at the photo above, you can say that her looks didn’t hurt her ability to be a success.  But, for the remainder of the day and on through 2011 and beyond, let us put aside the outer appearance of you girl — which can change and work against you if you are too invested in it.  But let us begin now to focus on that inner quiet beauty that has been gently nagging you over the years to come out and show its face, its creativity, its compassion, its interests, its art, its love, its peace to the world.   All of these gifts are not just for you…we are waiting to see and hear and feel them too!!!  In other words, WE NEED YOU!

To all my Girlfriends and every other friend (whether to me or to others), may you be open and receptive to Health, Wealth, and Manifold Blessings in this new year!

Oh, here is later photo of Lady Katherine with elegance, grace and style Ever-Renewing Woman

I am sure we all agree that as we approach the next century, (that) the media are too important to leave to men alone. –Judy Woodruff, co-chair of the International Women’s Media Foundation

Judy said this in 1992.  Hummmm…how far have we come Sisters?  Looking at almost every form of media around the world, I don’t think we got Judy’s message!  So, start taking those pictures, start hosting those shows, start making that music and singing your song!  Start buying those networks, start publishing those newsletters and blogs and newspapers and magazines and … for sure…start publishing those books!  And let’s write the Foundation for some funding!

Ladies, a bit of advise from a young gentleman:

I very well recollect that she showed some curiosity to know my story, frequently questioning me, and appearing pleased when I showed her the letters I wrote to Madam de Warrens, or explained my sentiments; but as she never discovered her own, she certainly did not take the right means to come at them.  My heart, naturally communicative, loved to display its feelings, whenever I encountered a similar disposition; but dry, cold interrogatories, without any sign of blame or approbation on my answers, gave me no confidence.  Not being able to determine whether my discourse was agreeable or displeasing, I was ever in fear, and thought less of expressing my ideas, than of being careful not to say anything that might seem to my disadvantage.  I have since remarked that this dry method of questioning themselves into people’s characters is a common trick among women who pride themselves on superior understanding.  These imagine, that by concealing their own sentiments, they shall the more easily penetrate into those of others; being ignorant that this method destroys the confidence so necessary to make us reveal them.  A man, on being questioned, is immediately on his guard: and if once he supposes that, without any interest in his concerns, you only wish to set him a-talking, either he entertains you with lies, is silent, or, examining every word before he utters it, rather chooses to pass for a fool, than to be the dupe of your curiosity.  In short, it is ever a bad method to attempt to read the hearts of others by endeavoring to conceal our own. -Jean Jacques Rousseau

There is an earlier post here about (Sudhamani) Ammachi the little woman from India known as the “Hugging Saint.”  Until you have been in her embrace, you may not know what all the fuss is about.  To have been born a “dark-skinned girl child” in a “small poor fishing village”, and rise to the status of a living Saint whose embrace is sought after by world leaders and every type of royalty in this world is a miraculous feat.

Because of Sudhamani’s dark skin, and her strange, unchildlike behavior, she was viewed by her parents as inferior to the other children. Her schooling ended when she was nine and she had to take care of the domestic work full-time. In addition to the arduous job of looking after her own family, she served the elderly, the poor and sick neighbors with love and care. Her parents were horrified to see her mingle with untouchables and forbade her to give away any more of their food, but she continued to do so despite their punishments… Amma never had a spiritual mentor or guru, nor was she exposed to philosophical books. (from amma.org website)

Even those in Hip-Hop have tasted the Peace which flows from this holy woman.  Below is what one of Hip-Hop’s legends is reported to have said about his experience with Amma just last week (6 July 2010):

Russell Simmons, the co-founder of Def Jam Records and founder of the clothing company Phat Farm, came for Amma’s darshan on July 6th, and rapper and “Human Beat Box” Doug E. Fresh performed in the wee hours of July 7th. Speaking with Amrita TV after his darshan, Simmons said, “I’ve been a great fan of Amma for many, many years. I am a practicing yogi. And it’s been my path – the yogic path. And every friend that I have that is part of this movement, the consciousness movement, through yoga, in America, has been to see Amma. So, I’m kind of the last one. Honestly. I’ve been inspired by her for many years… Being around her, it’s like after the most beautiful yoga practice, after the most beautiful meditation; it’s during the most present moments. It is kind of a blissful experience. Being around her is like that. You feel connected. And from her, it just flows. She exudes this kind of consciousness that, most of the day, we just hope for, and every so often a second will come by and we will be awake. Being around her gives you that feeling of being awake. So it was very beautiful.”  (from amma.org website)

I really don’t want to bring you down while you are preparing for your celebrations around the world. But, if you are alive and able to read this message, GIVE THANKS. Allow yourself to see and feel the good fortune you are experiencing at this moment. Send the very most love that you can conjure within yourself to all who are in pain and suffering anywhere in the world right now. Surround with love those millions of babies who have no parents as they have been taken due to some thought of man or hand of nature.
I would like to remind you of the people who are dying as I send this message to you and therefore increasing any figures that have been just issued.   We easily forget some wars that are still going on and if not still ongoing they are under an unsteady peace.  Near exhaustive lists of wars around the globe with expanded official reports and superbly written articles can be accessed across the internet.  Two such sources are Wikipedia at (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_wars) and the World History Database at (http://www.malc.eu/history/general.warfare.index.html).
When will we determine that death is no longer a welcome guest among us? When will we stop the needless killing saying to ourselves instead, “Some visits of death we cannot avoid, but there will be none to which we have issued an invitation”? When will we see, in life, a sacredness that cannot be replaced? Maybe if we give up on the ideas of anger, lust, and greed being useful tools in acquiring any permanent satisfaction…we will then think of this life as sacred not thinking that we have another coming in which we can make up for the mistakes and errors of today. Maybe if we see how profane it is when we use the same mind to think that somehow we are different because of a shade of skin of which the composition is the same for us all. Maybe if we finally realize that the 510,065,600 km of surface on earth which we all share does not physically belong to any of us as we were not born out of it but on it through a woman we will treasure the land for what it is – a nurturing and sharing and ever gracious host.
What is loose that will permit us to purchase garments for our girl children to wear that reveal their bodies and make them prey to men with no honor? What is loose among us that will create software that trains children to kill with pinpoint accuracy and displays the effects of the kill in living color? There is something loose among us that has robbed us of our humanity in that we can watch someone stand before another look the other in the eyes and chop his/her head off in front of the children. There is evidence of that something loose again when we allow countries and armies to rob our children of their innocence by putting guns and knives in their hands and sending them off to war.
I am nearly afraid to use the phrase God-Consciousness for fear that there are those who already feel far more powerful as they have given up on God showing any signs of finding them guilty of crimes against creation or creator.
In the name of Love and as Lover, I recommend to you a way out.   Simply give up.   That is the way out.   Only Love is the answer and Peace is the Way.    Everyone who feels that they have been deprived, denied, abused, misused, forgotten, forsaken, cheated, robbed – give up.    Yes, give up the will to get even, to get back.   GIVE UP.   ABANDON SHIP.   LEAVE THE FIELD OF WAR.   THERE IS NO HONOR IN DEATH.   If there is a mother who wishes her child to die, she is not the one who gave birth.    The only honor in death is for the living.
Who have I offended?   I know there must be someone out there whom I have offended.   It is not my intention.   But, I am not answerable to you.   I answer to Life and to Love that can only occupy a living thing.
To Love I answer and to Love I owe allegiance.   I vow to honor life and protect the children.   These words have energy of their own.   What energy are you sending out into the universe?   What do you want to see come back to you that will allow you to have a taste of Peace?
If something is going to be loose, let it be Love.    And for those who just don’t want to understand, let me make it plain…I said “Love” not sex.    As for sex, well, I’ll talk about that in another blog.

Never let a day go by without going within…meditate.
Meditation is a form of prayer, but prayer is not meditation.  Unlike prayer, meditation requires no words.  Its language is simply presence.
Most prayer is of the mind requiring some form and structure.  Meditation is of the soul where freedom reigns.
Meditation is silence.  Meditation is the transport to your place of remembering the meaning of life.
